Previously, when users moved their cursor to the extreme left or right of the screen, two panes would automatically appear – a pane with activities on the left and a pane with forums and notes on the right. While these panes were intended to provide quick access to valuable resources, they inadvertently caused frustration by frequently opening unintentionally. This not only disrupted the learning flow but also detracted from the overall user experience.

The Solution: Introducing Fixed Access Buttons
To resolve this issue, we have implemented a change that replaces the automatic opening of these panes with fixed, small buttons. These buttons are now strategically placed and clearly visible, allowing users to open the panes only when desired. This change empowers you with control over when to access activities, forums, and notes, significantly reducing accidental openings.
Quantifiable Impact
The results of this update have been impressive:
- Reduction in Accidental Openings: We observed a significant reduction of 25-30% in accidental openings of the panes. This means fewer interruptions during your study sessions.
- Decrease in Server Load: With fewer accidental activations, the server load for the associated services has decreased by approximately 30%. This improvement not only enhances platform performance but also contributes to a smoother user experience.
