At e-GMAT, pioneering innovative educational solutions for competitive exams like the GMAT is our hallmark. We’re excited to unveil a transformative update that’s reshaping our learning landscape: the introduction of In-Course Cementing. This enhancement isn’t merely an add-on; it’s a significant simplification of our educational approach. By streamlining what was previously a cumbersome 5-step process down to an efficient 2-step journey, we’ve not only simplified learning but also achieved a significant outcome – a 50% surge in student engagement with our cementing quizzes within a mere month. This simplification underscores our commitment to making your path to success smoother and more intuitive.
The Context
Before diving into the details, let me set the scene. Our learning journey is divided into three stage:
Stage 1 – Learning Concepts and Process Skills: Here, we don’t just teach you the concepts of Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Data Insights; we also provide step-by-step methods for solving GMAT-style questions of various types. These methods are designed to help you solve every type of GMAT question, guaranteeing accuracy and speed.
Stage 2 – Cementing – Mastering Application of Concepts and Process Skills: After learning, the next step is to cement these concepts and skills through medium and hard difficulty quizzes in a timed environment. This stage is crucial for ensuring that you take what you’ve learned to a competitive level of application.
Stage 3 – Test Readiness: Finally, we prepare you gradually for the actual test by making you solve mixed topic quizzes of increasing lengths and complexity at the sectional level as a run-up to a full-length mock.
Now, while Stage 1 takes place on our Course Platform, Stages 2 and 3 are administered on our testing platform, Scholaranium. This separation is crucial for a focused approach to each stage. However, we recommend completing Stage 2 right after Stage 1 for each subsection (e.g., Critical Reasoning Stage 1 and Stage 2, then Reading Comprehension Stage 1 and Stage 2, and so on) because it significantly enhances the effectiveness of your preparation by ensuring that you cement your skills when your memory of those skills is still fresh. It’s like practicing a song on the guitar multiple times right after you learn the chords; or like spending time in the nets practicing a cricketing stroke right after learning the technique from your coach.
Understanding the Challenge
Despite the clear benefits of following our recommended path, we noticed many of you postponed or altogether skipped Stage 2, opting to complete Stage 1 of all subsections before considering cementing. A bit of research helped us identify that the main reason behind this was the transition between the two platforms – from our Course Platform to Scholaranium. The additional effort required to switch platforms and the extra steps involved in setting up and attempting cementing quizzes led many students to postpone or skip this critical phase. This, in turn, resulted in lower performance as students often forgot concepts and skills or had to revisit Stage 1 material later, causing inefficiencies and delays.
The In-Course Cementing Solution
We have always advocated the importance of cementing a subsection right after the learning phase (Stage 1). When we observed a gap in engagement during this critical stage, we diagnosed the reasons for this gap and then developed a simple yet effective solution: integrating cementing directly into the Stage 1 course menu and automating the setup and launch of the medium and hard cementing quizzes. Now, you can seamlessly move between learning and cementing without worrying about navigating between our Course Platform and Scholaranium. This integration has not only eliminated the hassle of switching platforms but also significantly boosted engagement by making the process more intuitive and less time-consuming.
Moreover, we also assigned ‘learning levels’ to these cementing quizzes, enabling you (and us) to track your progress more effectively through the “Journey View” on the Course Dashboard. You can now look at the status of completion of your cementing quizzes, your quiz results/grades, and even the raw data of every single quiz attempt directly from your Dashboard on the Course Platform. This upgrade has enabled seamless movement and interaction between our learning platform and testing platform, eliminating confusion completely and boosting student engagement significantly.
Impact and Outcomes
The outcome of this innovation speaks for itself: a remarkable 50% increase in the engagement levels with In-Course Cementing quizzes, in less than a month since implementation. This leap is not just a number; it represents a significant shift towards more effective and efficient preparation for you. By removing barriers and simplifying the process, we’ve made it easier for you to succeed.
Looking Forward
The introduction of In-Course Cementing is a testament to our commitment to your success. We continuously strive to innovate and improve our offerings to ensure that you have the most efficient and effective preparation possible. This development is just one of many steps we are taking to revolutionize the way you learn and achieve your goals.
