Parallelism Error<\/span>:  This sentence contains a list as indicated by the marker phrase \u2018both..and\u2019.  Here is the list:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Both with Homoerectus<\/li>
  2. And, in addition, Homo Sapiens<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This list is clearly not parallel.  Notice that \u201cwith\u201d appears after \u201cboth\u201d and hence should appear after \u201cand\u201d as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Idiom Error<\/span>:  The correct idiom usage is \u201cboth..and\u201d.  \u201cIn addition\u201d is not needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Punctuation Error<\/span>: \u00a0The list of two verbs \u2013 has been found & indicates \u2013 is connected using comma + and. \u00a0This is incorrect. \u00a0It should have been connected using \u201cand\u201d only since comma + and is used to connect two independent clauses or a list with more than 2 elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Parallelism Error<\/span>:  Similar to Choice A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SV-Agreement Error<\/span>:  The subject of the sentence is \u201cskull\u201d.  This has been modified by the modifier \u2013 bearing traits.  Traits is further modified by the verb-ed modifier \u2013 associated with\u2026 The verb for this subject is \u201chave been found\u201d.  Thus singular subject does not agree with plural verb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Modifier Error<\/span>:  \u201cwhich modifier\u201d modifies the closest noun.  In this case, it appears to modify Afar region of Eritea.  But this is illogical since the region does not indicate the stated fact.  Furthermore, we should use \u201cwhere\u201d to modify the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Choice C:  A one million-year-old skull bearing traits associated with both Homo erectus and Homo sapiens has been found in the Afar region of Eritrea, indicating<\/span> that modern humans developed much earlier than previously thought.<\/address>\n\n\n\n

    No errors<\/span>.  The verb-ing modifier modifies the preceding clause correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Choice D:  A one million-year-old skull bearing traits associated with both Homo erectus and Homo sapiens and found in the Afar region of Eritrea, indicating<\/span> that modern humans developed much earlier than previously thought.<\/address>\n\n\n\n

    Fragment Error<\/span>:  The subject \u201cskull\u201d has no verb.  Notice that both verb-like words that are in the form of verb-ed are indeed modifiers –  associated & found.  Similarly the verb-like words that are in the form of verb-ing are also modifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
