  1. N + KN = 915<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. P35<\/sup> + 35P<\/sup> is Even<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Correct Answer<\/h3>\n

    Solution<\/h3>\n

    Steps 1 & 2: Understand Question and Draw Inferences<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    X = P*NK<\/sup> + P<\/p>\n

    –> \u00a0X = P(1 + NK<\/sup>)<\/p>\n

    X will be odd only if P is odd and (1+NK<\/sup>) is odd<\/p>\n

    NK <\/sup>will have the same Even-odd nature as N (Power doesn\u2019t change the even- odd nature of an expression)<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 (1+N) needs to be odd<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 N needs to be even<\/p>\n

    So,\u00a0 X will be odd only if P is odd and N is even.<\/p>\n

    So, let\u2019s now look at the given statements to ascertain the Even-Odd nature of P and N.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Step 3: Analyze Statement 1<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    N + KN = 915<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 N(1+K) = 915, which is an odd number<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 The product of 2 numbers is odd only if both the numbers are themselves odd.<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 N is odd<\/p>\n

    Since we know that N is not even, we can say for sure that X will not be odd.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Therefore, Statement 1 is Sufficient.<\/p>\n

    Step 4: Analyze Statement 2<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    P35<\/sup> + 35P<\/sup> is even<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 P + 35 is even (Power doesn\u2019t change the even- odd nature of an expression)<\/p>\n

    –>\u00a0 P is odd<\/strong><\/p>\n

    But, we don\u2019t know if N is even or odd. Thus, Statement 2 is not sufficient<\/p>\n
