This sentence does not communicate logical meaning. &nbsp;It talks about ability of scientists to provide certain models \u2013 the models of atmosphere\u2019s complex responses to changing conditions. &nbsp;It states that the ability of scientists to provide models has become more accurate. &nbsp;This is where the sentence does not make logical sense. &nbsp;It does not make sense to say that ability has become more accurate. &nbsp;It would however make sense to say that models have become more accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-are-the-errors-in-the-original-sentence\">What are the errors in the original sentence?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This sentence has two errors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1: &nbsp;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meaning Error<\/span>: &nbsp;As discussed in the meaning discussion above, the sentence does not communicate logical meaning. &nbsp;The SV pair, &nbsp;ability has become more accurate, does not make sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2: &nbsp;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Idiom Error<\/span>: &nbsp;Such as should be used to express examples. &nbsp;\u201cLike\u201d is used incorrectly in this sentence to present examples of changing conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-answer-choice-analysis\">Answer Choice Analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Choice B<\/span> \u2013 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meaning error<\/span> as in choice A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Choice C<\/span> \u2013 No Error. &nbsp;Note here that the construction \u2013 scientists have become able to provide \u2013 may be considered wordy. &nbsp;But this choice is the best-worded choices among all the other choices. &nbsp;It does not have any grammatical errors and it communicates the logical meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Choice D<\/span> \u2013 This choice has three errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meaning Error<\/span>: &nbsp;As in choice A. &nbsp;Scientists have become more accurate in their ability \u2013 does not make logical sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Idiom Error<\/span>: such as vs like: &nbsp;As in choice A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Idiom Error<\/span>: &nbsp;\u201cability for providing\u201d is not idiomatically correct expression. &nbsp;The correct expression is \u201cability to provide\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Choice E<\/span> \u2013 Meaning error as in Choice A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, choice C is the correct answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-are-the-key-take-away-messages\">What are the key take-away messages?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>If the original sentence does not communicate logical meaning, then the correct answer should be the one that is grammatically correct and that communicates a logical meaning.<\/li><li>\u201cSuch as\u201d should be used to present examples. &nbsp;\u201cLike\u201d should not be used to present examples.<\/li><li>\u201cAbility for verb-ing\u201d is an idiomatically incorrect expression. &nbsp;The correct expression is \u201cability to verb\u201d.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ability of scientists to provide models of the atmosphere&#8217;s complex responses to changing conditions, like seasonal and daily cycles or different planetary conjunctions, have become ever more accurate.
