This question simply requires focusing on communicating the logical meaning to get to the correct answer. It is one of those&nbsp;rare SC questions in which our job is short and sweet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"1-2-og-video-solution-sc8156101-plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis%E2%80%A6\">2. OG Video Solution &#8211;  SC81561.01- Plausible though it sounds, the weakness of the hypothesis\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a short and sweet three-step approach that teaches you to use meaning and logic as the essential tools to get to the correct answer choice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fbv7eAmuBGU?rel=0\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"2-3-when-the-meaning-is-positively-preposterous\">3. The author is trying to tell us that something is seemingly reasonable or probable. Now, we cannot help but stop and take note of the use of &#8220;<em>it<\/em>&#8221; sitting at the beginning of the sentence &#8211; &#8220;<em>though <strong>it<\/strong> sounds<\/em>.&#8221; Now, the pronoun demon (as I refer to them) &#8220;<em>it<\/em>&#8221; is a bit pernicious in this sentence because it is referencing the subject <em>&#8220;the weakness<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis-1024x576.png\" alt=\"GMAT OG solution -Plausible though it sounds, the weakness of the hypothesis...\" class=\"wp-image-35754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When we see the pronoun, we should instantly ask ourselves, &#8220;plausible though what sounds?&#8221; Immediately we get our answer \u2014 &#8220;<em>the weakness of the hypothesis<\/em>.&#8221; Do we even need to read any further to catch the absurdity? Can a weakness of a hypothesis be reasonable or credible? The very nature of a hypothesis is that it is likely to occur. The organization of the sentence almost seems to be contradicting itself. The use of &#8220;<em>plausible<\/em>&#8221; in reference to the weakness of a &#8220;<em>hypothesis<\/em>&#8221; is entirely illogical. Clearly, the author intends to state that though the hypothesis seems plausible, it does have a weakness. The author then presents the weakness \u2014the hypothesis does not incorporate all relevant evidence. Now that makes sense. So, all we need to do is keep our logic in check, and it will be a quick trip to the correct answer choice because no other option presents this logical intended meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"3-4-the-most-common-mis-step-option-b\">4. The Most Common Mis-step- Option B<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>B.<em> Even though it sounds plausible, the weakness of the <\/em><em>hypothesis<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This choice might mislead a few of you because of the slight structural change. Notice, <em>&#8220;Even though it sounds plausible&#8221;<\/em> is a clause and not an opening modifier in this option. Still, if we want our little pronoun demon &#8220;<em>it<\/em>&#8221; to appropriately refer to &#8220;<em>hypothesis,&#8221; it <\/em>should follow this clause for the proper logical and grammatical pronoun reference.&nbsp;However, the pronoun demon &#8220;<em>it<\/em>&#8221; still messes with the meaning here by referring to the &#8220;<em>weakness<\/em>.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.e-gmat.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plausible-though-it-sounds-the-weakness-of-the-hypothesis-option-choice-b-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Plausible though it sounds, the weakness of the hypothesis... A Snapshot of the Meaning Mess in the Answer Choices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you focus on the meaning, you will notice that all, but the correct answer choice, can be eliminated simply because of illogical meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(A) Plausible though <span style=\"color:green\">it<\/span> sounds, <span style=\"color:red\">the weakness<\/span> of the hypothesis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(B) Even though <span style=\"color:green\">it<\/span> sounds plausible, <span style=\"color:red\">the weakness<\/span> of the hypothesis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(C) Though plausible, the hypothesis&#8217; <span style=\"color:red\">weakness<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The possessive &#8220;<em>hypothesis&#8217;<\/em>&#8221; describes weakness, so we have the same issue as option A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">(D) Though the <span style=\"color:green\">hypothesis<\/span> sounds plausible,<span style=\"color:green\"> its<\/span> weakness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(E) The weakness of the hypothesis <span style=\"color:red\">which <\/span>sounds plausible<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where is the contrast? And what is &#8220;<em>which<\/em>&#8221; referring to? &#8220;<em>The weakness<\/em>&#8221; or &#8220;<em>the hypothesis<\/em>&#8220;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eureka!
