    In this question, we are given<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • A rectangular lawn is 30 feet wide and 40 feet long.<\/li>
    • Three-fourth of the area of the lawn is to be enclosed by a rectangular fence.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      To Find<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      We need to determine<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The less amount of fence required, if the enclosure has full width and reduced length, compared to full length and reduced width.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Approach & Working<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
        • Area of lawn = 30 \u00d7 40\n
            \n
          • 3\/4th<\/sup> of the area of lawn = \u00be(30 \u00d7 40) = 30 * 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Case 1:<\/u><\/strong> When full width will be fenced, and reduced length will be fenced.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • Width = 30 feet\n
                \n
              • 30 * L = 30 * 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>
              • Hence, length = 30 feet<\/li>
              • Length of fence needed = 2(30 + 30) = 120 feet<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Case 2:<\/u><\/strong> When full length will be fenced, and reduced width will be fenced<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Length = 40 feet\n
                    \n
                  • 40 * W = 30 * 30\n
                      \n
                    • W = 22.5 feet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                    • Length of fence needed = 2(40 + 22.5) = 125 feet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                      Difference in length of fence needed = 125 – 120 = 5 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                      Hence, option B is the correct answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
