For more solutions of GMAT OG 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/e-gmat.com\/free-trial-registration\/?channel=blogsin_article&amp;utm_source=blogs&amp;utm_medium=in_article&amp;utm_campaign=free_trial&amp;utm_content=mba&amp;utm_term=blogs_in_article\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">register for a free trial.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong><u>Step 3: Analyse Statement 1<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>As per the information given in statement 1, r is even.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>However, from this statement, we cannot determine the even-odd nature of s.\n<ul>\n<li>If s is even, then r + s = even + even = even<\/li>\n<li>If s is odd, then r + s = even + odd = odd<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As we cannot determine the even-odd nature of r + s, statement 1 is not sufficient to answer the question.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>Step 4: Analyse Statement 2<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>As per the information given in statement 2, s is even.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>However, from this statement, we cannot determine the even-odd nature of r.\n<ul>\n<li>If r is even, then r + s = even + even = even<\/li>\n<li>If r is odd, then r + s = odd + even = odd<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As we cannot determine the even-odd nature of r + s, statement 2 is not sufficient to answer the question.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>Step 5: Combine Both Statements Together (If Needed)<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>From statements 1 and 2, we can say that<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>r is even<\/li>\n<li>And, s is even<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, r + s = even + even = even.<\/p>\n<p>On combining the statements, we can determine the even-odd nature of r + s.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hence, we can say both statements together are sufficient to answer the question.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thus, the correct answer choice is <strong>option C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>GMAT OG is a great source of practice questions for the GMAT.
