ISB Placements 2019 – How ISB PGP Class created history – 883 students, 1194 offers, 25L+ average salary

Indian School of Business or ISB PGP has come a long way from its founding class of 126 students in 2001 to the class of 2019 of about 900 students and is recognized as an MBA program of global repute. On 5th April 2019, the graduation ceremony was held for the PGP students of ISB. With the record high average CTC of INR 25.09 LPA for ISB placements 2019, the venue was full of smiles and ambitions.

Chief Guest Dr. G V Prasad – Co-Chairman of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd and Member of the ISB Executive Board was present at the occasion, along with Harish Manwani – Chairman of the Executive Board of ISB, Srinivasa Raju – Member of the Executive Board of ISB and Professor Rajendra Srivastava – Dean at ISB, joined by faculty, staff, alumni, students, and families.

ISB 2019 – A highly eventful year – ISB Placements

The academic year 2018-2019 was another eventful year at ISB, unique in its own ways. The class of 2019 claimed credits for many ‘firsts’ in terms of hosting unique events at ISB. Some of them were:

  • ILS (ISB Leadership Summit) Masterclass – A round the year event wherein stalwarts from diverse fields shared their valuable insights;
  • Policy Conclave – A summit that brought together luminaries from the public sector, private sector, and the civil society to discuss a wide range of policy issues that really matter for the upcoming Elections 2019; and
  • RISE – A leadership convention to celebrate women in leadership.

The class of 2019 also proactively volunteered for Kerala flood relief programs and contributed to the families of the martyred soldiers.

ISB Placements 2019 – Employment report of the PGP class

Dean Rajendra Srivastava lauded the efforts of accomplished students and dedicated faculty & staff that aided ISB to scale new heights. For the first time, ISB placements 2019 witnessed a whopping 1194 offers made in the first week alone. As of 5th April 2019, 96.3% of the class of 883 students were placed already and the remaining 31 students opted out of the placements process. Average CTC of INR 25.09 Lakh per annum was reported for ISB placements 2019 which is the highest ever average CTC in the history of ISB. The highest offered domestic package is INR 1 crore. [1]

Boost for ISB placements – Diversity at ISB

The Dean highlighted the fact that ISB wasn’t just a meaningful destination for career progression, but also diverse peer-learning. There are CAs, doctors, lawyers, defense personnel and a large number of engineers. Despite the fact that 70% are engineers at ISB, there are engineers who have worked at NGOs, entertainment industry, FMCG companies, and manufacturing companies. There are some engineers who are great poets, and there are others who have great product design experience. Such diversity truly enhances the cohort’s peer learning. With 34% of the class being women, ISB ranks among the highest in terms of gender diversity amongst management schools in India. [2] Interestingly, this year, both ISB’s Gold Medalist and the Chairman All-rounder award winner were women.

Awards to Faculty & Staff

ISB PGP class of 2019 awards

After the much inspiring talks by the chief guests, the Professor of the Year awards (core courses) were bestowed upon Professor Achal Basamboo, Professor Milind G Sohoni and Professor Sarang Deo for teaching Decisions Models and Optimization, Decisions Models and Optimization (again), and Statistical Methods for Management Decisions courses, respectively.

Professor of the Year awards (elective courses) were awarded to Professor S Arunachalam, Professor Krishnamurthy Subramanian, and Professor Piyush Kumar for teaching Marketing Strategy, Corporate Control and Mergers, and Marketing Services, respectively.

The Best Academic Associate awards were presented to Addepalli Bhargav, Bharath Ram Reddy, Pankhuri Jain, Siddhartha S Modukuri, and Suryanarayana Murthy. Academic Associates (AA) play a critical role in a student’s journey at ISB since the AAs directly supervise tasks related to program management and student management. [5]

Awards to Students

ISB PGP class of 2019 awards

Awards to students were presented for their impressive performance in academics and for their contributions to the school.

  • The ISB Gold Medal was presented to Rashi Choudhari for scoring the highest CGPA in the cohort.
  • The Chairman’s All-Rounder Award was presented to Nitya Samuel for overall excellence in terms of both academics and leadership.
  • Lalita Kavi Soumya was awarded the ISB-Parmeshwar Godrej Award, an award that’s presented to a women student who has shown extreme commitment and compassion towards the social and non-profit sector.

Further, ISB Scholars of Excellence (Hyderabad campus) was awarded to Harish Bommerla, Nishanth Muthusamy, and Rashi Choudhari, top 3 students in terms of CGPA. Dean’s List award and Merit List award was conferred to the top 10% of the class in terms of CGPA attained by the end of academic year (i.e. term 8) and by the end of core courses (i.e. term 4) respectively. 14 students were awarded the ISB Young Leaders award for their exemplary contribution towards the school through various leadership roles and activities and 33 students were awarded ISB Torchbearer awards for substantial contributions to school and student life through various initiatives and activities. 10K Alumni Milestone

Lastly, as the graduation ceremony concluded, the freshly minted alumni were added to the ISB’s alumni community, reaching the 10K mark. Building a strong alumni base of 10,700, working across more than 42 countries, for a school that’s only 18 years old marks a commendable achievement in the field of management education. [5]

A big alumni base has also influenced ISB placements 2019.
