A typical GMAT preparation cycle would include the following steps and associated GMAT fees –

How many business schools should I apply to with GMAT?
It depends on your GMAT score. First, take a look at your target business school’s average GMAT score of the last incoming batch. If your score is 20+ points above it, you should definitely target those schools.
When it comes to applications, there are three categories of Business Schools
- Reasonable ones (Your profile and GMAT score are a good fit)
- Optimistic ones (You are pushing your luck here, but there is a small chance of admission)
- Safety nets (You are almost sure of an admit)
Try applying to 2-3 schools of each category during application rounds. In calculating the cost of taking a GMAT, I have assumed you are applying to 10 business schools. GMAT sends five score reports for free. For every additional report, it charges USD$35 each.

GMAC does not offer fee waivers directly to students. Only the schools can distribute fee waivers, which are limited to 10 within a year for economically disadvantaged test takers. Paying for your GMAT fees
The most common form of payment is through a credit card or Debit Card if you have registered online. If you have mailed a physical form, then you can also pay by Cashier’s check, Money order or Personal check. Payments by check should be payable in USD $ and drawn on banks located in the United States.
